Pair Chinese Export Rose Medallion medallion urns Item # 4335 Chinese rose medallion urns with foo lion lid finials. They were originally part of 5-piece set, called a garniture set. A garniture set consisted of a pair of urns, a pair of vases, and a center jar. The set would be symetrically arranged on a mantlepiece for decoration. Rose medallion porcelain was not made for Chinese. It was made for export, first to Europe and later to the US, and was never marked until about 1925, when it had to be stamped China. Rose medallion design is characterized by its predominant pink tones. It features open fields, or medallions, painted with court figures. These medallions are enclosed by busily patterned borders of flowers, birds, insects, and scrolls, all highlighted in gold. This type of porcelain was intruduced in the 18th century, but the early versions were not so congested in their decoration. This wonderful antique Chinese needlework is in excellent condition and frame with silver leaf over wood. The frame measures 71 inches high by 41 and one half inches wide and the image measures 68 and one half inches by 38 and one half inches. Antique hand painted screen with monkeys Chinese 19thc Item # 5047 Antique decorative hand painted screen with monkeys Chinese 19thc. This room divider or interior screen depicts monkeys at work and play. All the images of each monkey are hand painted on leather. This screen is from China and dates from the middle to late 19th century. The screen measures 78 and one quarter inches high, with each of the four panels measuring 18 inches by 1 inch. Chinese Guanyin Goddess carved wood Statue 19th century Item # 5306 This wooden Guanyin Chinese statue measures 27 inches high and approx. 9 and one half inches wide. Carved from a single block of wood and hand painted. This Guanyin dates from the middle 19th century in China. Notice how well carved the fingers are. Chinese bronze enamel Vase c1880 Item # 4441 Chinese bronze enamel Vase c1880. Chinese bronze, decorated with cloisonne enamel Mongol warriors on an impressed and incised background. It is a decorative piece made in the early 20th century, circa 1910 or 1920. Its form is modeled on an archaic Chu Dynasty (1125-250 BC) form called a tsun, or wine vessel. This type of large-cell cloisonne enamel decoration is relatively modern. The Ming-inspired elephant handles on this vase are an appealing feature, as is the unusually tall 25-inch size.
